L'ART MEME

This written interview was conducted by Philippe Franck, founder of Transcultures, for the Belgian contemporary art magazine L'art même. Founded in 1996, Transcultures is a pioneering Belgian centre dedicated to digital, sound, and interdisciplinary arts, fostering exchanges between artistic creation, science, and emerging technologies. It accompanies the article “From DeSign to MetaDeSign”, examining LAb[au]'s theoretical and artistic research into metadesign, interactive environments, and the impact of digital technologies on architecture, space, and their modes of representation.

_In LAb[au] Manuel Abendroth, co-founder of this laboratory for architecture, urbanism and artistic multimedia production, carries out a work of theoretical research. On the Web or through installations and performances, LAb[au] elaborates a "metaDeSign" that exploits and investigates the implications of new technologies of computation and communication in spatio-temporal structures as well as in their forms of representation. Quite an adventure that potentially takes a meta-designer into a view back to a future made from the multiple versions of a techno past yet to be (re-) discovered.
