ultramarinblau – bleupersan, diptych
Writing with Colours begins with colour names and treats their letters as chromatic material. In this diptych, LILA + UMBRA NATUR is rearranged into ultramarinblau, while PRUNE + SABLE becomes bleu persan. The colours are not mixed materially: their relationship is produced by language. The resulting hues therefore follow the logic of letters rather than that of pigments.
The two anagrams open parallel chains of association. Lilac and umber—flower and earth—become ultramarine, a blue whose name means “beyond the sea". Plum and sand become Persian blue, a name that carries its own geographical and cultural displacement.
Presented together, the works form a semantic diptych: two blues associated with distance, travel and imagination.
