glass and steel

abstract

This project title is referring to the metric system indicating a factor of -15 to the power 10 and corresponds to the scale of photons. The installation transcribed this scale into 15 progressive Fresnel lenses, a 15-metre-long frieze presenting a gradual magnification. The viewer walking along the glasses is exposed to the progressive magnification and a progressive fragmentary division of what she or he sees of the surrounding landscape, which is more or less large and reversed. The redirected light by the glass produces artifacts such as moiré effects, pixelization, and chromatic aberrations and offers the viewer the landscape as in an impressionist painting, capturing the light and space as colourful vibrations.
