text

Following the logic of the kinetic installation 'framework', these notations are a plot from the generative process. By flattening the temporal evolution of a single element, frame, into a single image, the underlying time-based composition of the installation is visualised. These generated black and white patterns create a specific perceptual experience of a discordant figure-ground relationship through which a new visual pattern emerges from the vibrating texture effect. This optical effect suggests an autonomous visual movement that reveals the kinetic principle of the installation. As notations, they are a tool to compose in time, and as images, they reveal the abstract and formal rules.
